The name "Wild Poppy" holds a special meaning to us. It is an homage to John P.G. Maidlow, a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend. John was a prominent figure in the Whittier Design Community known for his ability to listen and connect with people. He was wild at heart and full of life, everyone knew him as Poppy. As the owners of Wild Poppy, we are honored to carry on his legacy and continue to serve the community just as he did when he was alive. Our dedication to this opportunity means that you will be nurtured every step of the way during your salon experience.

Gigi Maidlow, one of the owners, brings decades of experience as a Salon Owner and Entrepreneur. She has a deep understanding of the "ins and outs" of the Salon Industry and has received numerous awards for her Hair Design skills. Gigi is the life of the party and spreads her light to everyone she meets. As the Head Concierge at Wild Poppy, she will ensure that you are promptly checked in and make you feel right at home while you wait for your stylist.

Dana Medina, Gigi's daughter, has followed closely in her mother's footsteps. With a lifetime of experience in the salon industry, Dana has also been instrumental in organizing various Small Shop Pop Up Events in Whittier, including the Everyday Is Like Sunday Pop Up Markets. She is an expert in Hair Color and Hair Health and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with aspiring stylists. Alongside Gigi, Dana is dedicated to creating a collective place where artists and creators can thrive both behind the chair and beyond. Our mission is not only to serve the community but also to support our fellow artists in becoming the most successful versions of themselves.
